We'll start your journey by picking you up from your hotel/riad in Fes. Our first stop will be Ifran, a picturesque mountain village which is also known as "the Switzerland of Morocco". During the trip, you will catch glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. We'll make a stop at Azrou, which is a Berber village located in the largest cedar forest in Morocco.
Here, you might even get to see Barbary apes. After spending some time in the forest, we'll continue our journey to Midelt, enjoying the stunning views of the Atlas hills and mountains. As we travel through the Tizi N'talghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, you'll get to see the High Atlas plateau and the landscape gradually changing to reveal hints of the desert as we approach Errachidia. We'll stop for lunch here and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Berber people.
After lunch, we'll continue through the Ziz Valley, stopping at various points for panoramic views, until we reach Erfoud and Rissani. Our final destination will be Merzouga, where you'll be drinking a refreshing glass of mint tea. You'll then embark on a camel ride, led by an experienced camel man, to explore the golden sand dunes of Merzouga. In the evening, dinner will be served in front of your tent, where you'll spend the night.
When in the middle of the desert, waking up early is a must-do to witness the most spectacular sunrise from the top of a high dune close to the camp. This breathtaking landscape is a gift of nature that you wouldn't want to miss. After enjoying the sunrise, we will return to Merzouga on camels where a heartwarming breakfast awaits us. Following breakfast, we will leave the desert and head to Rissani to visit the market place. If it's a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, we'll be able to witness the bustling market. Next, we will head to Erfoud where we can visit the manufactures of fossilized marble before continuing our journey to Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves. One hour later, we'll reach one of the best places of the High Atlas, the Todra Gorges.
This cliff-sided canyon is popular among climbers because of its beauty and high rock sides. We will have some free time to have lunch in this wonderful place and take a short walk through the gorges to better appreciate the beauty of the landscape. In the afternoon, we will continue to the Dades valley, also known as the figs valley, going through Boumalne Dades. We'll stop at the "monkey legs" before enjoying dinner and spending the night at the Dades gorges.
After breakfast, we will head to a strategic lookout point in the mountains to enjoy one of the best views of the Dades valley. From there, we can appreciate the numerous kasbahs and their unique scenic characteristics. We will then continue our journey on a road dotted with various kasbahs of tourist interest. After making some stops to enjoy the "One Thousand Kasbahs Road," the Roses Valley, and the large Skoura palm grove, we will arrive at Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, the former residence of the Glaoui or Marrakech pasha. If you're interested, we can also visit the cinema studios and museum. Half an hour from Ouarzazate, we will stop at the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit the famous Kasbah.
This place has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, and many famous films have been shot here, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz. We will have free time for lunch in town. In the afternoon, we will make our way to Marrakech, passing through the mountain port of Tizi Ntichka with some stops to take pictures. We will leave behind the moon-like landscape and enter another view full of colors. We will arrive in Marrakech around 6 pm, transfer to the hotel, and end our services.
